This featured pie is the work of J. J. Green, self-styled pie architect, who contributed this mince and onion effort.
The pie's creator says:
"Some people say a pie is just a pie. To me, this is a shallow opinion, a pie is more than meat and pastry. With each pie there are tears and heartache, accusations and recriminations, but always joy.
The mince and onion pie is a classic, but as such has in recent times been neglected. I modernise the mince and onions with a spoonful of playful mango pickle and a slug of Encona chilli sauce. For the pastry, Delia's flaky recipe, but with an ounce of strong flour added to the plain for extra crunchiness."
